Naming The Lost, Fighting for Our Lives: A Vigil and Call to Action

Join us Saturday, June 6 at 1:30pm for an online vigil to grieve those we have lost and fight for safety and dignity for all of us.

36% of Coronavirus deaths in California have occurred in long-term care facilities. At Windsor Care’s Vallejo Gateway Nursing Facility, more than 100 residents have tested positive and 16 have died. Nursing homes with majority Black and Latinx residents have been twice as likely to get hit by the coronavirus as majority-white nursing homes.

As part of a national COVID Memorial Weekend, we will read the names of some of the 28,100+ lost to COVID-19 in nursing homes and take a collective pause to grieve.

Together, we will demand that Governor Newsom and CEO of Windsor Care Lee Samson put people before profit, so that this list of names does not grow today, tomorrow, next week.
