Help show that the UK stands with refugees this August?

Last August, we stood up to hate. This August, we’ll stand together in welcome.

In summer 2024, violent, anti-migrant and racist riots erupted across the country. But our communities rallied against those who tried to stir fear and hatred in our neighbourhoods.

We showed that the rioters don’t speak for the UK; that overwhelmingly people want this to be a country of unity and compassion.

It’s in this spirit that we’re launching the Welcome Weekend — a nationwide action on 7-10 August, where communities across the country will come together to organise events of welcome, commemorating those powerful counterprotests.

This is an important opportunity to bring together our neighbours and tell our politicians that our communities still stand together with refugees.

Whether you’re hosting a community picnic or holding a moment of reflection in a school or place of worship, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Together, we’ll show that our communities choose compassion — and we expect our politicians to do the same.
