Dear Friend,

In this second message in our March to the Polls series, we'll help you make a plan for Primary Day on May 16. (Did you miss the first message? Check it out here.) Making a plan to vote is the best way to make sure your voice is heard. Check out this message from Joe Biden about how important it is.

Step 1: Find out where you are going to vote

You can find you polling place by entering your address here. If this is your first time voting at that location, you'll need to bring an ID with you, such as your Voter Registration Card or your driver's license.

Step 2: How will you get there?

Will you walk, drive, or take public transit? What time will you go? Before work or after? Will anyone come with you? Polls are open from 7 am until 8 pm, so we only have 13 hours on Tuesday to make sure our vote is counted.

Step 3: Make sure your friends and family have plans to vote, too

Reach out to other Pennsylvanians you know and make sure they have plans for going to the polls, too. Post on social media, forward this email to them, or just pick up the phone.

Step 4: Pledge to vote on Tuesday, May 16!

Fill out your pledge to vote by RSVPing to our March to the Polls event page! You can even sign up to get a phone call on Primary Day to remind you to vote.

Finally, before you vote, research the candidates and ballot measures you'll see in the voting booth on Tuesday. Some resources to help you get started are listed below, but you can also check the website of your local paper, county government, or votespa.com.

Friend,

Almost two years ago today, your support helped me to win Philadelphia’s Democratic Primary. I think back to how hard we worked and how much we fought for that victory, and am humbled to know that so many Philadelphians were behind me.

On May 16th, we have the opportunity once again to make our voices heard in two hotly contested city-wide primary races: City Controller and District Attorney. With the advent of the Trump administration, it is crucial that, now more than ever, we engage with local politics.

In November, we watched as a man with absolutely no applicable experience was elected president over a woman who served for years as both a Senator and Secretary of State. We’re still watching him now as his administration continues to wreak havoc on women, the poor, racial minorities, immigrants and members of the LGBTQ community, among others.

I want to see more women in office. I want to see more people of color, too, as well as people who are LGBTQ in all levels of government. What I want is diversity, and, more than that, I want politicians who will stand up for everyone in our great city.

But in order to make that happen, we need to vote on May 16th, and at every election going forward. Philadelphia is our city. Let’s make it work for us.

To find your polling place, visit: www.philadelphiavotes.com. The polls are open from 7am to 8pm.

Yours Truly,
Helen
