Movement for Black Lives Day of Action: Juneteenth

SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) is showing up in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives for a national day of action in defense of Black lives. The action will be held on Juneteenth, the historic Black holiday marking the end of slavery.

On June 19th actions will be happening across the country and the globe and we ask that you join in a Black-led action or plan one if there isn't one planned in your local area. There will also be actions happening throughout the weekend in Washington DC. Look here to find out if there is already an action planned in your area. Check with other local organizations to find out. If you know there isn't one planned you should plan one and register one. We will also be tracking where SURJ chapters and new members are taking action for other white folks to join in on our website in the coming days.

We will be hosting a series of planning calls once you sign up you will get registration info:
1) Anyone interested in taking action - June 15th 2 times - 7 ET AND 8 ET
2) Rural and small towns/cities - June 16th at 8 ET
3) Chapters taking action - June 17th 8 ET
4) Washington DC action planning - TBA

We need white people to show up. We need you to do so with respect that the uprising against police violence and white supremacy is led by Black people and Black communities. SURJ is here to support its membership and newly-activated white people to move into powerful action. For more information on the Movement for Black Lives day of action, check out their website.
