The people of Barcelona have drawn a red line: no more destructive runways!

Their struggle is our struggle: against corporate greed and mass tourism, and for a future where joy and meaning can be found without 30€ Ryanair flights that cost the earth.

1. We stand with the locals of Barcelona against the expansion of Barcelona-El Prat Airport. This is a corporate-backed death sentence for a planet engulfed in the flames of a climate crisis. Barcelona’s mass tourism is not only bad for locals, but also produces more carbon than the entire country of Cyprus - with 89% of this deadly pollution caused by aviation .

2. We call for an end to mass tourism in Barcelona. Locals are drowning in over-tourism. People have a right to affordable housing and a dignified life - both of which are made impossible by a tourism model which is turning whole apartment blocks into AirBnBs, and displacing locals. This destruction will only be intensified if the airport is expanded.

3. We condemn this act of environmental vandalism - wetlands are worth more than runways! The proposal to expand the airport into two irreplaceable wetlands at the heart of the Llobregat delta will have an “irreversible impact” condemned by conservationists and even the European Commission.

We pledge solidarity with those on the ground resisting the Catalan government’s destructive chase for endless growth and mass tourism. From Barcelona to Brisbane, we stand together: against bullshit flights, and for a liveable future!
