Online policy discussions 2025
Each month, local Green Party members meet for an informal online chat, related to Green Party policy. You are invited to join us for the next discussion:
Friday 17 January, 7pm-8.30pm
Topic: Climate and Nature Bill
Including a short presentation from: Jamie Russell, Zero Hour
* Please note this will be a public meeting - RSVP here *
The Climate and Nature Bill aims to bring in a new UK law to address the full extent of the environmental crises we face. It would commit parliament to keep global warming down to 1.5°c, and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030. The Bill also calls for a climate and nature citizen's assembly to help develop an emergency strategy.
The Bill was written by scientists, experts and campaigners and was first introduced by Caroline Lucas in September 2020. It has now been brought forward again by the Liberal Democrat MP, Dr Roz Savage (South Cotswolds), and will have it's second reading on 24 January. It needs at least 102 supporting votes from MPs to progress further.
Suggested pre-reading:
- Climate and Nature private member's bill (parliament website)
- Zero Hour (campaign group)
