Coalition on Human Needs and Public Citizen have drafted a letter to all members of Congress urging them to reject the proposed $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget and oppose any increase in Pentagon funding for FY 2027. The proposed budget would represent a dramatic increase in military spending at a time when critical human needs programs are being cut.

The signing organizations call on Congress to prioritize investments that strengthen communities and improve Americans’ quality of life, including health care, housing, education, climate and public health protections, and programs that reduce hunger and poverty. Instead of expanding an already enormous Pentagon budget—much of which flows to private military contractors—the letter urges lawmakers to redirect resources toward meeting basic needs and building shared prosperity.

Local, state, and national organizations are all encouraged to sign this letter. We hope you will add your organization’s name and circulate this request to other groups in your networks.

Please note: This sign-on letter is for organizations only. We urge individuals instead to use this CHN Action tool: Tell Congress: End the militarism in our communities.
