Partner in Solidarity with Workers in Tennessee

Public workers in Tennessee are under attack. Republican Governor Bill Haslam's Administration has quietly launched a scheme to outsource facilities management fro every public building in the state, including colleges and state universities, prisons, state parks and National Guard armories.

The plan impacts roughly 10,000 working people in every single county in Tennessee as personnel, pay, and benefits are threatened in order to “reduce operating costs” in a time of budget surplus in our state. In the past, outsourcing has proven to be detrimental to working conditions, to the quality of service provided, and has not been proven to be a worthwhile investment of Tennesseans’ hard-earned tax dollars. This plan also represents an unprecedented level of privatization that sets a worrying precedent for working people across the country, as state governments everywhere are being fleeced by the private sector’s relentless search for sources of income.

Sign on today as an organizational partner that supports the public sector and stands against crass, profit-seeking grabs from the private sector. Educate your membership about our campaign and about current privatization efforts in your state. Organize an action in solidarity with Tennesseans and send a message to the corporate-driven elites currently in power: the public sector belongs to the people.
