Pledge to achieve real improvements to pay and work/life balance at Suncorp Insurance
FSU members have made it clear through our surveys and meetings that we need a new Suncorp Group Enterprise Agreement (EA) that gives all Suncorp Insurance employees access to real pay increases and modern working conditions that improve our quality of life.
We’re calling for a significant shift in pay increases for all Suncorp workers and the adoption of flexible and inclusive working arrangements that have been introduced in other organisations across our industry - see our full agenda contains all the issues that matter to us.
We’ve delivered profits. Now it’s time for our fair share. Will you join countless other union members and take the pledge to achieve real improvements in this EA?
Why it’s important we act now:
Cost of living
In recent years, cost of living has blown out with inflation peaking at 7.8%. This is in stark contrast to lower pay increases that many FSU members have reported over the same period.
In our recent FSU survey, 80% of Suncorp workers said they are concerned about the impact cost of living pressures are having on themselves and their families. 99% of respondents said that Suncorp pay increases need to at least keep ahead of the cost of living.
Recognising hours of work
Suncorp workers have reported working additional hours without additional pay. In the recent survey, 75% of respondents said they work unpaid overtime all the time.
Flexible working arrangements and working from home (WFH)
Our existing EA was negotiated nearly 10 years ago. Since this time, we have seen some major events that have changed how we work. Of course, this includes the COVID-19 pandemic where we have seen a major shift in the balance between working in the office and working from home. It is critical that our EA is modernised to reflect these changes.
Employers across the finance industry have now formalised WFH arrangements in their organisations. In a recent FSU survey, 94% of Suncorp respondents have worked from home in the last 12 months. The same number agree that it is important to formalise these arrangements in a new EA.
