Pledge to Join with Other Communities and Take Action to Stop the Rise of White Nationalism

The “Unite the Right” rally and surrounding events in Charlottesville this weekend were acts of domestic terrorism. The rally marks a turning point of the increasingly mainstream alt-right -- a.k.a. Neo-Nazi -- movement, with the tacit support of the President of the United States.

The people in the streets of Charlottesville who stood up to these white nationalists deserve our thanks, support and gratitude.

The best way we can do that is by joining them in this fight.

Why must we join with other communities under attack? Why must we ally ourselves with people of color, Muslims, immigrants, queer folks, refugees, and too many others?

Because our religious tradition compels us to fight for justice. Because the fact that the white supremacists behind the “Unite the Right” rally spew antisemitic tropes in the same breath as racist epithets. And because this violent movement is already coming after Jews of color, queer Jews, Jewish immigrants, and more.

This will require so much more of us than we ever might have imagined in 2017. Sign IfNotNow’s pledge of action against white nationalism.

As an American Jew, I Pledge to Join with Other Communities and Take Action to Stop the Rise of White Nationalism

I will no longer sit on the sidelines while we witness the most significant rise of white nationalism in a generation.

I will confront this open racism and antisemitism with moral clarity and a fierce commitment to action.

I will join with other communities under attack to stop white supremacy at every opportunity.
