Why is this pledge important?

2020 is a critical electoral year that has material implications for communities of color, poor and working people, immigrants, queer and transgender communities, and many others. What happens in 2020 will also dramatically shape the organizing landscape for our movement over the next decade.

Despite demographic shifts and powerful electoral organizing led by and focused on communities of color, white voters continue to play a critical role in US elections at every level of government. Alongside our movement partners and as part of a multi-racial coalition, Showing Up for Racial Justice is positioned to play a meaningful role in breaking off a piece of the right’s voter base in strategic states, contribute to winning local victories that will reshape the criminal justice system, and build power and infrastructure that will help lay the groundwork for racial and economic justice victories for years to come.

1. By taking this pledge, you’re joining a critical effort to organize white communities to show up for racial, economic, and gender justice. You pledge to vote for racial justice in 2020 and beyond.

2. By taking this pledge, you’re committing to organize others in your community to do the same. You are committing to do the hard work of getting white voters who are with us off the sidelines and to organize white voters who are conflicted about racial justice to see their self-interest in joining a multi-racial movement for justice.

3. Once you sign this pledge, we’ll send you information on how to reach out to white friends, family members, and colleagues to invite them to join you in becoming a racial justice voter.

4. We'll send you reminders to help you show up to important elections, to learn more about candidates running locally and opportunities to deepen your skills around effectively reaching other white folks around the importance of showing up for racial justice.
