REDISTRICT COLORADO! Make sure your community is represented in Colorado

In November 2018, Colorado Common Cause worked to end gerrymandering once and for all by helping to lead a coalition that passed Amendments Y and Z. Voters approved both measures by over 70 percent of the vote! These initiatives created independent redistricting commissions, which will be made up of everyday Coloradans – not politicians – and will create political districts that fairly and equitably represent the communities in our state.

Now the independent redistricting commission is recruiting and it's time to get involved! Applications opened on August 10 and will close on November 10 for regular Coloradans who want a say in how our districts are drawn. If you meet the eligibility requirements and want to help serve your state, sign up below and Colorado Common Cause can help guide you through the application process.

Joining the independent redistricting commission is a big commitment, and if you want your community's interests represented, there are a lot of other ways you can participate besides applying! By sending the application to a friend or inviting Colorado Common Cause to present and answer questions about about redistricting, you can help ensure that a diverse coalition of Coloradans hear about and apply to the commission.

The new redistricting process will also feature multiple opportunities for public comment and input, so you can also sign up to receive notifications about commission meetings near you so that you can voice your opinions and concerns. And if you have an idea about how our districts should be drawn, you can also draw your own map for the commission to consider!

There are a lot of ways to help draw districts that are truly representative and fair in Colorado, so sign up today to get more information!
