Register Your Voting Rights Protest

In Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the Republican Party, corporate PACs, and Republican elected officials have launched legal attacks on the recounts initiated by Jill Stein of the Green Party and Rocky De La Fuente of the Reform Party.  Those recounts are already revealing significant undercounts in some jurisdictions, with many ballots discarded, rejected, or counted incorrectly.

It’s up to all of us to demand that the recounts continue. Voters deserve to know that their votes were counted.

On Monday morning, at 10am, Jill Stein will hold a press conference in front of Trump Tower in Manhattan. Let’s show our support for election integrity by protesting against Trump’s attempts to shut down the vote counting. Organize a protest in your area to support the recounts; even a small voting rights rally will make a difference.

Following are short summaries of the struggle over the recounts in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Following those you can find some more tips about choosing a location for your voting rights protest.

WISCONSIN
On December 2, U.S. District Judge James Peterson in Wisconsin denied the request for an emergency halt to the recount. The process will continue until December 9 when the judge will review written arguments by both sides. December 13 is the federal deadline for recount results to ensure electoral votes can be cast. Additionally, the Republican Party filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission asking to halt the recount on Friday.

PENNSYLVANIA
A Commonwealth Court hearing will take place on Monday morning where both sides will argue their case and a second hearing will be held on Thursday if it is needed after the court received an application to halt recount efforts by the Pennsylvania Republican Party and the Trump campaign.

MICHIGAN
An objection to the recount filed by Trump was met with a deadlocked vote by the Michigan Board of State Canvassers, meaning the recount could move forward. The recount has come back under fire, however, by Michigan Attorney General Bill Shuette, who filed to halt the recount on Friday. Stein also filed a lawsuit in federal court on Friday asking a judge to allow the recount to get started in order to not miss the December 13 deadline for completion.

WHERE TO RALLY FOR THE RECOUNTS
Let the world know you want the recount process to move forward. Plan a peaceful voting rights protest. Because Trump and the Republican Party are trying to stop the recounts, you might want to hold your protest at a Trump property, or at a Republican Party office. You might also choose to hold your protest outside of a courthouse or another government building. Schedule your action for Monday, or, if necessary, for later in the week. Remember to register your event with No More Stolen Elections! so we can help get the word out.
