Urge Religious Leaders Nationwide to Stand Up and tell the TRUTH about immigrants

Donald Trump repeatedly lies about immigrants, calling them “r*pists”, “killers”, and “predators”. He has called immigrants “vermin” and “animals” who are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

These vicious and vile lies are too often repeated by faith leaders – who hold a unique position of influence in Trump’s voting base. The truth is that immigrants contribute more than $3 TRILLION to our economy each year and pay more than $500 billion in taxes despite receiving no benefits like Social Security.

Despite these clearly documented facts, too many faith leaders choose to join the president in demonizing immigrants instead of upholding the centuries-long faith tradition of protecting the persecuted and maintaining houses of worship as safe havens.

As the Trump administration defies court orders and arrests immigrants with valid visas, green card holders, and even U.S. citizens[1] – detaining them under inhumane conditions – it’s time for faith leaders to take a stand.

This is NOT what this country stands for. This is NOT what we stand for.

We're calling upon the religious leaders at the institutions named below to take a bold stand against the current administration's assault on immigrant communities and tell the truth about immigrants.

We urge you, as faith leaders, to publicly condemn these lies, educate your congregations about the moral imperative to welcome the stranger, and join with other faith leaders in a unified stance against policies that violate human dignity.

Please add your name and let's continue to work toward the common good.
