September Rebellion Launch

The September Rebellion kicks off on 9/7! Together we rebel against a government that has failed to protect us amid intersecting crises—the crises of racial injustice, Covid-19, and the climate emergency.

Please join Extinction Rebellion NYC for a day of good trouble: beginning with a ceremony for planet Earth, followed by a vibrant parade, nonviolent disruption, music, and dancing.

Meet at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park on Monday, September 7th at 1:00 PM, in a spirit of love, grief, and rage.

Together we will take to the streets to demand justice, learn from each other, and celebrate our collective power.

Plus we have a special ask: help us build a symbol of what we stand to lose if we don’t stand up to climate chaos - and the climate of chaos we currently face. Together, we will create a beautiful ribbon installation, adding our voices to a tradition started with the 2014 People’s Climate March.

Here’s what to do:

  • Take a few moments to ponder the simple and profound question:  “What do you love and hope to never lose to climate chaos, and what do you love and hope to never lose in this climate of chaos?” Be specific and personal.

  • Write a short statement encapsulating your response on the left hand side of a ribbon (or strip of colorful fabric). On the right side, write your name and hometown/where you live.

  • Ask as many friends/family members as you can to do the same; then bring your ribbon(s) on the 7th!

Note: if you cannot attend but wish to participate, email your statement and name to xrnyc.art@gmail.com and we will put it on a ribbon for you.

All are welcome. Please wear a mask! This is a non-arrestable activity.
