Share your story about workplace age discrimination

We know that ageism—stereotyping, prejudice or discrimination against someone based on age—is harmful. In the workplace, it may take the form of difficulty finding a job after a certain age, not having access to training or promotions, or being pushed out. Sometimes it looks like not being invited to meetings anymore, having managers ignore your capabilities, or making jokes about older people in general. If you've experienced something like this, you're not alone. Ageism in the workplace is rampant: A recent AARP study showed that 78% of people between the ages of 40 and 65 have either experienced or witnessed workplace age discrimination.

We have the data to make the case about why ageism is a serious issue that should be addressed, but many people find personal experiences even more compelling than data.  What we need are the stories—your stories!

Many of you have shared in person or on social media that you have experienced ageism. If you're willing to share these stories—with a reporter, in a public meeting, or allow us to use them when we talk about ageism, we can together strengthen the movement to end ageism.

We won't share your name without your permission, and someone from Changing the Narrative will reach out to talk to you before using any part of your story. If you wish, we will help you with public speaking, a letter to the editor, or media interviews.

Sharing your story is easy. Fill out the form to the by right (note that email and zip code are required field), and let us know how you'd like to get involved. We'll be in touch.

Thanks so much!
