Sign on: support universal pre-K!

Research shows that one of the single greatest drivers of child outcomes, both academically and behaviorally, is high-quality interactions between teachers and students, yet due to the cost, millions of children in the United States do not have access to a preschool education.

A toddler’s experiences in early care can have a significant impact on their future. In fact, 90 percent of their brain development occurs by the time a child turns six years old.

The National Bureau of Economic Research found that preschool enrollment boosts college preparation and high school graduation and decreases disciplinary measures including juvenile incarceration. Adults that participated in preschool earn significantly more than adults that didn’t attend preschool.

Federally funded early education would also provide quality child care that would allow more employment opportunities for parents, improving household finances and boosting the overall economy.

Universal pre-kindergarten has the potential to become one of the most transformative education programs in the country, creating long term benefits for parents, children, and the overall economy.
