In these incredibly difficult times, it is even more important that the communities most impacted are supported and included in building a more equitable Oakland. We can solve the challenges facing us by expanding democracy to make sure voices of our young people are heard!

Oakland Youth Vote (OYV) is a youth-led measure that would give 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote in the School Board election. We strongly encourage the Council to move the ordinance forward - so we can secure the placement of Oakland Youth Vote on the November 2020 ballot. Thank you to Council President Kaplan for authoring the measure, and to Council members Bas and Taylor for co-sponsoring it!
