Sign on to support harm reduction in Maine and destigmatize drug use!
Maine is one of the states hardest hit by the opioid crisis; thousands of Mainers are dying or being sent to prison for experiencing substance use disorders every year. Right now, there are a number of bills related to drug policy moving through the state legislature, some of which aim to help people and others that would harm them.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of stigma towards people who use drugs or who are in recovery. That’s why we need to show legislators how many Mainers support harm reduction programs and practices. Please add your name to this form to say that you support harm reduction!
We want to move away from stigma and towards care by helping people get the treatment and recovery resources they need to get and stay healthy, and reduce the harm caused by drug use for Mainers currently using drugs. We also want to shift government resources away from punishment and incarceration, and towards a public health approach.
MPA works to destigmatize drug use and drug addiction by elevating the voices of impacted Mainers and their families, so if you’re interested in working with us to tell your story or advance legislation, check the box on this form. Thank you!
