1 in 3 working people rely on Statutory Sick Pay - when they fall ill they only receive £116.75 a week, and that is after losing wages through a four day waiting period. This leaves people with an impossible choice - go into work sick, risking their and potentially others health, or stay home and have no way of paying the bills. To make things worse, 1.5 million part time workers miss out on any sick pay at all.

It doesn’t have to be like this. We are calling on MPs to do the right thing and change our Statutory Sick Pay system so that:

1. Sick Pay is paid from the first day of illness
2. The lower earnings limit is removed so that coverage includes part time workers
3. The rate is increased so no-one has to choose between going in sick and paying the bills.
