Sign the petition: Protect reproductive healthcare access -- pass the Women's Health Protection Act
The Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade as early as this year, jeopardizing our fundamental right to an abortion. Last month, we asked Congress to take urgent action to protect our right to choose—and now, a bill has been introduced that would do just that.
The Women's Health Protection Act would codify Roe v. Wade into law, protecting the right to an abortion at the national level. With 48 co-sponsors in the Senate and 176 co-sponsors in the House, this bill already has substantial support—but we need to get it over the finish line.
By passing WHPA, our legislators would lift barriers to care that disproportionately impact Black, Brown, and Indigenous people, trans and queer people, disabled people, low-income people, and people living in rural areas. When we expand access, we all win.
As co-sponsor Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla) stated: “We need to trust women to make important decisions about their own reproductive destinies. The Women’s Health Protection Act will take the power to make these deeply personal medical decisions out of governors’ mansions and state legislatures and put it back where it belongs: in the hands of patients and persons they trust.”
Pro-choice elected officials are hard at work at the state and local levels to help protect reproductive freedom. But they can't do it alone. To save our right to access abortion, we need urgent action in Congress. With Roe hanging in the balance of a radically right-wing Supreme Court, we don't have time to waste.Sign the petition: Demand Congress pass the Women's Health Protection Act.
