Sign the petition: Stop the “think-tank” loophole corporations use to corrupt our democracy

Recently, the New York Times pursued an investigation into 75 “think tanks,” finding that many were populated by researchers who were also registered lobbyists or members of corporate boards. Frequently, they were even consultants in litigation and regulatory disputes.

Unfortunately, there is no law that forces the think tanks themselves nor the corporations benefiting from think tank work to disclose what financial arrangements the two have.

Corporations are compelled, by law, to disclose the money they spend on lobbyists. But while think tank research is frequently used as evidence in shaping public policy, the lack of transparency has meant a clear conflict of interest is being ignored.

This is not acceptable!

Sign if you agree: Big corporations should be required to disclose how much money they pay “think tanks” for industry-friendly studies.
