The entertainment industry is at a crossroads. The advent of streaming and artificial intelligence has drastically changed the business model, and the individuals who bring our favorite stories to life are getting left behind.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA are on strike, demanding better terms from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents major studios and streamers, including Amazon, Apple, Disney, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros Discovery.
The strike is not just about the actors and writers; it's about the integrity of the entertainment industry and the respect for the craft. It's about standing up against corporate greed and demanding fair compensation for the value they bring to the industry.
Fran Drescher, SAG-AFTRA president, has been vocal about the plight of the actors and writers. In a passionate speech, she called out the studios for claiming poverty while awarding their CEOs with hundreds of millions of dollars.
This strike is a fight for the soul of the entertainment industry. It's a fight against the exploitation of the very people who bring stories to life on our screens. It's a fight for fair compensation, respect, and dignity in the workplace.
We call on the AMPTP to negotiate with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA in good faith. We demand that they recognize the value that writers and actors bring to the industry and compensate them fairly. Sign the petition if you agree: Support our screenwriters and actors.
