Sign the petition to corporations: U.S. Chamber of Commerce funds voter suppression. Time to cut ties.

Across the country, democracy and voting rights are under attack. Lawmakers have introduced 389 voter suppression bills in 48 states.

On April 14, a group of over 500 companies, CEOs, and others pledged their support for the right to vote in a full page
New York Times ad. They called voting the “lifeblood of democracy” and the “fundamental right of all Americans”.

But many of those same companies
have yet to break ties with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has a
history of opposing voting rights and supporting politicians and groups that
back voter suppression tactics. It also had a hand in normalizing actions that threatened the foundations of our democracy.

The U.S. Chamber has poured over $7.4 million into the Republican State Leadership Committee, a group that launched a so-called “voter integrity” commission whose proposals experts say will disproportionately harm voters of color. They have resumed political giving to lawmakers that voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election results immediately after the deadly January 6th insurrection — a move that supercharged doubts about the election’s legitimacy.

And now, amidst our fight to protect our freedom to vote, the U.S. Chamber spent $129.24 million lobbying against legislation including the For The People Act , a bill meant to expand access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money, and strengthen ethics rules for public servants.

We must hold these companies — which include Microsoft, Target, IBM, Facebook, Bank of America, and Salesforce — accountable for their empty promises. They cannot proclaim to support our right to vote while they continue to uphold their relationship with a group with a long history of undermining that right.

It is time these companies sever their ties with voter-suppressing U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sign the petition: Companies that proclaim to support our freedom to vote must sever their ties with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, who historically fund voter suppression.
