Elon Musk’s history of amplifying Nazi propaganda, endorsing far-right extremism, and dismissing concerns about anti-semitism makes him dangerously unfit to serve in any capacity within the Trump administration. From turning X into a platform rife with hate speech to publicly opposing Holocaust education, his actions threaten our democracy and undermine our values.

Musk’s role in the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is an alarming extension of his anti-democratic influence. While DOGE is not a formal cabinet department, Musk’s involvement in shaping government policy could give him unchecked power to dismantle essential programs and protections, including those that support Holocaust education and counteract extremism.

Elon Musk has repeatedly platformed and endorsed hate speech, emboldening extremists who seek to undermine democracy:

• He amplified an antisemitic conspiracy theory in November 2023, replying to a post that accused Jewish communities of stoking hatred against white people by saying, "You have said the actual truth."

• He reinstated numerous far-right figures on X, including those who had been banned for spreading neo-Nazi rhetoric and Holocaust denial.

• He has publicly criticized Germany's commitment to Holocaust education, arguing that the country should "move beyond" its Nazi past.

• At Donald Trump’s second inauguration celebration, Musk made a widely condemned hand gesture resembling a Nazi salute, drawing cheers from neo-Nazis. Instead of addressing the backlash and apologizing, he dismissed the concerns, further emboldening hate groups.

We cannot allow someone with this track record to hold any position of influence in the federal government.
