About Survivors Speak

On February 19, 2019, hundreds of crime survivors representing a new victims’ movement will join state and community leaders in Texas’s state capitol for the first annual Texas #SurvivorsSpeak convening. The convening brings together crime survivors, particularly from communities most affected by crime, to share stories, honor loved ones, and advocate for smart justice policies that transform families, communities and the state.

#SurvivorsSpeak, the largest gathering of crime victims in the U.S. held each year during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Sacramento, California is expanding to the state of Texas. Check out these videos highlighting last year’s California and Florida gatherings!

Who We Are

Crime survivors want and deserve a justice system that prioritizes healing, prevention, rehabilitation and recovery—not more prisons and jails. Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice is a national network of crime survivors joining together to create healing communities and shape public policy. We are a flagship project of the Alliance for Safety and Justice.

With over 25,000 members and growing, including chapters and leaders across the country, we are sharing our stories, healing together and advocating for smarter policies that can prevent crime, improve the justice system, and better support survivors, our families, and our communities.
