Write to Glastonbury’s staff and urge them to speak out
Write to Glastonbury’s staff and urge them to speak out—Glastonbury must cut ties with Allianz, an underwriter of genocide in Gaza, climate collapse, and migrant detention.
Over 4,500 of us signed an open letter urging Glastonbury to boycott Allianz. In response, the festival blocked emails from Boycott Bloody Insurance, shutting down dialogue instead of engaging with our demands.
Next thousands emailed the festival’s organisers. They replied saying they will consider our demand in due course. We say that with genocide and climate catastrophes raging, this simply isn’t good enough.
Allianz continues to insure and invest in corporations like Elbit Systems, Chevron, and Serco: companies that profit from environmental devastation, the Israeli genocide of Palestinians, and the brutal detention of migrants.
Elbit Systems: Allianz insures Elbit, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. Elbit has built its empire by testing weapons on Palestinians and arming the Israeli military in its genocidal assault on Gaza.
Serco Group: Allianz holds $7.3 million in Serco, which operates four UK “immigration removal centres”—including the notorious Yarl’s Wood, long plagued by allegations of abuse. Serco also runs the UK’s GPS tagging system, subjecting migrants and asylum seekers to constant surveillance.
Chevron: Allianz has over $73.8 million invested in Chevron, one of the world’s five largest private oil companies. From the poisoned lands of the Ecuadorian Amazon to gas fields fuelling Israel’s war machine, Chevron’s record is one of destruction. It is the fourth-largest carbon polluter in history.
Tell Glastonbury: drop Allianz NOW. The festival must stop working with the insurer of Elbit Systems, Israel’s main arms supplier and a major backer of fossil fuels and migrant detention.
