How did a teacher, educator or school employee influence you in a positive way?

You have a chance to win $500 by submitting your story online at TeacherWordsMatter.org. Tell us how a teacher, coach, school counselor, bus driver or other school employee had a positive effect on your life.

  • Did he or she teach you the importance of never giving up?
  • Did he or she help you through a rough period in your life?
  • Is there a phrase or quote that stuck with you?

Either submit a written account of how an educator made a difference in your life or tell your story with a video.

The Missouri NEA-sponsored Teacher Words Matter contest will run until Feb. 28, 2017. Ten winners will be chosen and be awarded $500 each at the Missouri State High School Basketball Championship Playoffs Friday, March 17 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, MO.

Use the hashtag #TeacherWordsMatter when posting your story to Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. To be entered for a chance to win $500, you must submit your contact information online using the form to the right or by mailing the entry form to Missouri NEA, Attn: Teacher Words Matter, 1810 E Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. All entries must be received by Feb. 28, 2017.
