In a promising sign that the end to the coronavirus pandemic could be on the horizon, two drug giants — Moderna and Pfizer — announced that their vaccines had shown 95%+ efficacy in recent trials. Today, the Pfizer vaccine officially received regulatory approval.

There's just one problem: We don't know if these vaccines will be free and available to all at no cost.

Earlier this year, Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar claimed that the Trump Administration "can't control the price" of any potential vaccine or cure developed to help protect people from the coronavirus.

What's more, there's no guarantee that the millions of Americans losing their jobs during this unprecedented economic and public health crisis — and with them, their health insurance — will have access to a vaccine for free. And with a 6-3 conservative majority at the Supreme Court reviewing Trump's lawsuit to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, the number of uninsured Americans could grow exponentially if Trump's lawsuit wins.

It doesn't have to be this way. We can demand that Congress works to make a vaccine free for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. And they must act now.
