Tell Florida lawmakers: Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs for students, teachers and faculty at state colleges now.

It’s become increasingly clear over the last few years that under Governor Ron DeSantis’ failed leadership, Florida is being run by hateful bigots determined to push their extremism in schools at all levels.

First, DeSantis passed the Don't Say Gay bill which outlawed any discussions of LGBTQ issues in public schools, effectively silencing students and teachers from being who they are and loving who they love.

Then he attacked anything even remotely similar to critical race theory, including ending an AP African American Studies class because it might educate students about the history of systemic racism in America.

Now, DeSantis has taken further steps to attack educators and students with his recent legislative proposal to block Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in state colleges.

His goal is to implement a top down education overhaul that will make every level of school in Florida from elementary to state colleges extremist, conservative ideological factories. These attacks are part of a broader effort to silence and erase the voices of marginalized communities and deny them access to education and resources.

Already, the first part of his strategy is becoming a reality: The board of trustees at New College of Florida, a public honors college, voted 9-3 to abolish the school's Office of Outreach and Inclusive Excellence, which runs the DEI programs.

We have to stand up and fight back. State colleges must be able to teach students what they need to learn, not what Ron DeSantis and his MAGA supporters want students to learn. Please add your name to sign our petition now.
