Tell Google: Remove white supremacist and Nazi content from Google Podcasts

The petition to Google Podcasts reads:

"Hate speech does not belong on Google Podcasts. Take immediate action to remove podcasts hosted by conspiracy theorists, white supremacists and Nazis."

A disturbing report in the New York Times found that Google Podcasts hosts podcasts pushing conspiracy theories and white supremacy. Some of the shows are even hosted by Nazis! In total, the New York Times found more than two dozen podcasts from white supremacists and pro-Nazi groups – none of which are available on other major podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher.

Google knows how to fix this problem. They just won’t. And when they give hate a platform, it hurts people in real life.

To make matters worse, podcasts are increasingly popular with kids and teenagers. According to data from Statista, nearly half of all 13-17 year-olds and roughly one-third of 9-12 year-olds and one-fifth of 6-8 year olds listen to podcasts. So while parents may think their child is safe looking for podcasts to listen to on Google podcasts, they could easily stumble upon Nazi or white supremacists trying to recruit kids into their hateful ideology.

Sign the petition if you agree that Google has a responsibility to parents, kids and the rest of society to ensure that conspiracy theorists, Nazis and white supremacists aren’t using Google podcasts to disseminate hate speech and lies.
