Tell Rishi Sunak MP: No child left behind in Richmond (Yorks) this Christmas
Rishi Sunak the MP for Richmond (Yorks) let down millions of children by voting against calls to extend Free School Meals provision through the school holidays.
In Richmond (Yorks) alone, 3,818 children are already trapped in poverty. By Christmas, 200,000 more children across the UK will be pushed below the poverty line.
Covid-19 is having a devastating impact on families in Richmond (Yorks). For many, living in poverty isn’t new. But some are being pushed into poverty for the first time through wage cuts and job losses.
By expanding Free School Meals year-round we could end holiday hunger.
For many children a Free School Meal is the only time they will eat that day.
We’ve all pulled together through the pandemic as a community, now it’s so important that no child is left behind.
We as constituents of Richmond (Yorks) were shocked and disappointed that Rishi Sunak MP voted against the call to extend Free School Meals over the holidays.
We urge Rishi Sunak MP to reconsider and fund Free School Meals for the Christmas holidays and beyond.
