Tell the DC Council: Invest In Working Families, Not Billionaires

On Tuesday, May 27, Mayor Bowser released her proposed FY 2026 budget and unless the DC Council acts to fix it, it’s not looking good for children, youth and working families.

At a time of economic uncertainty due to slow revenues from the DOGE economy, congressional interference, and impending federal budget cuts, Mayor Bowser proposes cutting funding for essential programs and services, while giving away more than a billion of tax payer dollars to billionaires, who are able to build their own stadium. Working families deserve better.

That’s why we need you to join us in telling the DC Council to fix Mayor Bowser's budget by restoring investment like child care, afterschool programs, health care, and housing for working families. Billionaires do not need our tax payer dollars. It’s vital that our budget make smart and strategic long-term investments that position all kids and families for success. This budget does not do that.
