Following North Carolina's discriminatory HB2, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that the Department of Justice had filed a lawsuit against the state of North Carolina.

In her response, Attorney General Lynch took a strong position in support of the LGBTQ community, particularly transgender North Carolinians who were singled out by HB2.

"Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself, we see you, we stand with you and we will do everything we can to protect you going forward. Please know that history is on your side." - Attorney General Loretta Lynch
