Thank you for taking the time to call Senator Ginny Burdick at 503-986-1700. As the Senate Rules Committee Chair, she seems to have decided to be an obstacle for — instead of the champion of — National Popular Vote Interstate Compact legislation in Oregon.
Majority Leader Ginny Burdick and Senate President Peter Courtney both are only willing to support a compromised version of the National Popular Vote legislation that would refer the question to voters statewide. This is just a way to kill the bill since Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S Constitution clearly states that the state legislatures must pass laws regarding the regulation of elections — because of that section of the U.S. Constitution, no state legislature has EVER placed this issue on a ballot since we became a country.
It would appear Peter Courtney has gotten control of Ginny Burdick.

My name is _______ and I live in __City__, OR. Tell Senator Ginny Burdick to please schedule a work session for National Popular Vote legislation HB2927 so it can go to the Senate floor for a vote this year! No state legislature has EVER placed this issue on a ballot since we became a country because Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S Constitution clearly states that deciding how electoral votes are allocated is to be determined by state legislatures. Peter Courtney is using Sen. Burdick to kill this bill. Her constiuents demand a representative that won't cave to bribes and threats from colleagues and moneyed interests.This is a non partisan issue that uses the Oregon legislatures constitutional duty to decide how votes are allocated in presidential elections. And the overwhelming majority of Oregonians have supported equalizing the vote by joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact for 6 years now! Let's pass it in 2017!
