Transport Reform - Sign the letter for Mr Finemore

We know the increasing pressure that RFT faces to deliver on time and operate on small margins. This shows that transport reform is urgently needed to lift standards in the industry - the sustainability of RFT and our job security depend on it. Major companies across the industry have already committed to supporting our ongoing campaign, now it's time for RFT to join our push for a safer, fairer and more sustainable transport industry.

Dear Mr Finemore

We are very passionate about our working conditions at Ron Finemore Transport and the transport industry generally.

Unfortunately, we are dealing with serious cost of living pressures and a reduction in our real wages. We know that this is because the pressure from the customer continues to affect your ability to recover your costs and therefore increase drivers’ wages to keep up with the cost of living.

We have also seen many transport companies have to cut back maintenance on their fleet, pay less than award conditions or continue to use a fleet way past its use-by date just to stay afloat.

We know we work under a modern award that allows for drivers to be at work and not get paid and we appreciate the steps RFT has taken within our enterprise agreement to address some of these problems. However, you are unable to resolve a number of critical issues we are facing because you must remain competitive.

As members of the TWU, we have a plan to address the problems that the transport industry faces by lobbying to reform our current legislation.

We are very disappointed to be advised that RFT has not signed up for the transport reform. We request that the company review their position and support us (and the rest of the responsible transport industry) to make the industry safer, more efficient and more productive.

Thank you

Your workers and TWU members
