URGENT: Call your legislator to say NO to ICE partnership with Maine police departments!

The House will be voting on LD 1971 TODAY and your legislator needs to hear from you! Add your name in the form to receive the call information.

LD 1971, a bill sponsored by Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland), will make sure that (among other things) local law enforcement agencies don’t use their resources harassing and detaining immigrants or sharing information with immigration authorities, when they should be working to keep people in our communities safe.

Members of Maine’s House will vote on the bill TODAY, and it’s vital that you let them know they need to do the right thing and support it!

Right now, immigration enforcement practices in this country stand in direct opposition to our shared understanding of compassion and collective care, and they undermine the fundamental American values of freedom.

We have a moral obligation to resist what the Trump administration is doing in California right now – but we also have an opportunity to ensure that our own state doesn’t fall prey to the xenophobia and cruelty we’re seeing elsewhere.
