Controversy continues to swirl around several recent decisions by the Housing Authority for the City of Asheville (HACA). Last month, they threatened the Southside Community Farm with eviction, and more recently the leases for Head Start programs that operate in public housing were terminated. Community members are understandably upset, and are finding it impossible to get answers from HACA. There is no information available on their website about either decision, and they haven’t responded to email requests. Why the stonewalling? Why not offer a public explanation of what is happening and why?
