Blurb: As World War II rages, a teenage boy in Germany is forced to confront a terrible truth-loyalty to his country now means loyalty to a lie. When his trusted bishop urges obedience to the Nazi regime, he begins to question everything. And after his Jewish friend is taken away, he secretly listens to banned radio broadcasts and launches a resistance, exposing the truth. But in a nation ruled by fear, defiance comes at a cost-and as the regime closes in, he must decide what it truly means to be a good German.
Historical info: "Truth & Treason" is a true story based on the life of Helmuth Hübener, a German teenager who resisted the Nazi regime during World War II. He and his friends formed a resistance group after witnessing the arrest of their Jewish friends and distributing anti-Nazi leaflets.
- Hübener was 16 when he started the resistance, which was inspired by Allied radio broadcasts and his disillusionment with Nazi propaganda.
- The group's actions led to their arrest by the Gestapo and a trial in Nazi Germany.
- Hübener was the youngest person to be executed by the Nazi regime for resistance, beheaded in October 1942.
