WVDEP: Reject Adams Fork Energy’s Air Permit
Adams Fork Energy recently applied for an air permit for emissions related to its proposed ammonia production facility. Despite the facility's potential impact to the local community and the risks associated with operations, the WVDEP has decided to fast track this permit without a public hearing.
Please call on the WVDEP to allow the public to weigh in and learn more about this project.
The applicant could receive its permit as early as February, despite the fact that construction wouldn't begin until 2024 at the earliest. Additionally, CNX, initially announced as the lead partner, recently dropped out of the project entirely, calling this project's future into question. The company behind Adams Fork Energy has no prior experience with ammonia production or the experimental technology needed to produce this "low-carbon" ammonia. The public should be given an opportunity to hear directly from the applicant and from regulators, to ask the important questions needed to safeguard their communities, and to provide critical feedback needed to inform permitting decisions.
Join us in asking the WVDEP to grant a public hearing and to make sure residents have a voice in the decisions that impact their communities.
