Thanks to the overwhelming support we’ve seen from our community, we have expanded our programming and services as we transform our office space into a fostering environment by creating a permanent home and safe space for all Black and Brown Trans/Queer people on the South & WestSide of Chicago. We are looking to raise $800,000 to create the facilities that Brave Space Alliance calls home.
We are asking our community supporters that believe in the work we do, and to support Black Trans Lives on the South and West Sides of Chicago. We need your help to keep telling our people to #BeBrave! Once acquired, these $800,000 will cover:
$262,500 for space acquisition costs
$137,800 for permitting, engineering, and renovation
$99,700 for tech, furniture, and bills for 1 year
$160,000 for supplies to make the BSA Crisis Pantry permanent, and the only LGBTQ food pantry in the Midwest
$80,000 to build a permanent distribution network for the pantry
$60,000 for equipment, staffing, and certification costs for the pantry
The needs of our community are overwhelming. Between the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, and the George Floyd Rebellions in late May, we served 3000 individuals with the Crisis Pantry. Since the beginning of the rebellion, we have served 15,000 people in just three weeks. Our programming is for-us, by-us, and the majority is based on the principles of mutual aid, and radical Black and trans liberation politics. Help us remind Chicago and the world that ALL Trans Black Lives Matter, and keep us in our home for years to come!
