A broken brake light is the most common reason for police to pull people over. Having one means you’re more likely to have a police interaction - an occurrence which can result in a burdensome ticket, a lengthy search of your vehicle, and the potential for bodily harm. They are also an easy fix, provided you can afford a new one.
The Pittsburgh Democratic Socialists of America are planning a community service event this November to fix broken brake lights free of charge to help lower the chance of police encounters in our community. We’ll buy the brake lights and our trained volunteers will make sure they are properly installed for anyone who needs a repair.
You can support this project and projects like it by making a donation to Pittsburgh DSA. A recurring monthly donation of $10 will empower our energetic and enthusiastic members to continue their great work improving our city through community service projects, electoral work, and direct action.
Thank you for making our work possible.
