Hometown Action has always centered gender equity in our work.
It shows up in the way we develop powerful leaders among women, trans, non-binary, and queer folks who make up the majority of our member leaders and who are the same folks governing our organization.
It shows up in our conversations with rural voters, through cultural organizing that builds a deeper understanding of privilege and oppression, and in healing spaces for those most impacted by patriarchal systems.
Abortion restrictions have become the primary means of gender oppression in our state and our nation. But we know that bodily autonomy is a deeply held Southern value, even when clouded in the minds and hearts of our families and neighbors by the politicking of those who maintain their power through the oppression of women and gender minorities.
"Everyone should have access to the healthcare they need to make decisions about the families they’d like to build." — KC Vick, Dir. of Culture & Power Building
