February 1 was the day that shattered everyone inside and outside the Myanmar community this year.
Ten months after the Myanmar military’s brutal seizure of power, Myanmar continues to spiral downwards into a simultaneous triple crisis of economic collapse, COVID-19, and war and displacement.
Despite these challenges, the Civil Disobedience Movement continues to unite the Myanmar people in a revolution, calling for a multi-ethnic democratic government.
Recognizing the need for international coordination to effectively channel these calls for change, the Global Movement for Myanmar Democracy (GM4MD) has championed the people of Myanmar’s fight for democracy since the coup by building and strengthening networks for pro-democracy advocacy worldwide.
Will you join us in this fight to restore democracy and human rights to Myanmar?
To date since the coup, GM4MD has successfully executed two global advocacy campaigns, organized global virtual protests twice (attended by over 15,000 registrants, viewed by over 300,000 on Facebook live on March 26 and 27), hosted 13 events overall so far, advocated relentlessly for the BURMA Act with the U.S. Advocacy Coalition for Myanmar, and connected ICR with GMSR and Blood Money Campaign, which resulted in gaining 15,000 more signatures on petitions. Read more about our accomplishments here.
To see more good work being continued in the future though, GM4MD needs your help!
