Since the unprecedented Covid outbreak in ICE facilities caused by gross negligence, ICE has been forced to release many - but certainly not all - immigrants from Yuba County Jail and Mesa Verde ICE Processing Facility.
The sudden release has left hundreds of immigrants, in many cases weakened Covid survivors with extensive health needs, in severe distress. Without money for medicine, transport, clothes or even food, and in many cases without family to provide shelter, they are in immediate need of financial help to survive.
The gravest injustice is reserved for the immigrants who are deported right after their release, even after being exposed to, and contracting Covid. They need financial support to build new lives in countries they are forcibly removed to.
At the same time, many immigrants are still caged in ICE custody, living in the same inhumane conditions that caused the Covid outbreak.
With the spread of variants and persistent barriers to vaccination, they still need outside funds to protect themselves by buying soap and basic hygiene products. Financial support also ensures that those locked up inside are able to sent letters and pay for phone calls to their loved ones and send letters.
We greatly appreciate every donation but, if you can, we ask you to consider a recurring contribution. Together, we can give ongoing support to our immigrant community members, both the ones in ICE custody and the ones struggling after their release or deportation.
The Yuba-Mesa Verde Support Fund is administered by Faithful Friends, which has been working closely for years with immigrants held by ICE.
So please donate, share and join us in solidarity with our neighbors and friends at Yuba and Mesa Verde.
