Aloha e nā hoa āina, nā hoa welo like, nā hoa pili, - aloha kākou. When we established the puʻuhonua on July 13th, we never imagined we'd still to be on the Mauna four and a half months later.
The funds that have been raised through HULI have substantially supported the infrastructure at the puʻuhonua including media, medic, transportation, art and educational support, along with non-violent direct action training for those on Maunakea and in the community and for other movements in Hawai'i. HULI leadership has maintained a 24/7 presence on the mauna to ensure that needs are met and that the Puʻuhonua is safe and functioning.
We do not know how long we will need to remain here before the TMT packs up and leaves Hawaiʻi forever. Will it be another week, another month, or perhaps even a year? The answer is unknown. In this season of giving, would you consider contributing to the strength and sustainability of our stand to protect Maunakea? The reward has been and will continue to be the transformation of our lāhui as we say no more to elite interests determining the future of Hawaiian lands. Mahalo and aloha nui kākou.
