Danielle Meitiv is a climate scientist, a Silver Spring homeowner, and a parent. She's also known as the "Free-Range Mom" who stood up for her family and her rights when her children were picked up by the police for walking home from the park without an adult. She and her husband felt that giving the kids independence and freedom would teach them confidence and a sense of responsibility. But the County said that they did not have the right to make that decision for their children. For six months, her family was harassed, her children terrified, and she and husband were charged with child neglect. But they fought back, and with the help of the many Montgomery County residents who stood with them, they won.
Danielle is running for County Council to stand up for all Montgomery County To stand up for our children and their future. For:
* Quality public education from pre-K through community college.
* A clean environment and stable climate, with clean air and water, 100% renewable energy, and efficient public transit.
* A strong local economy with living wage jobs and investments in the businesses that create them.
* Dignity and equality for all Montgomery County residents.
Her campaign is 100% people-powered! Danielle is participating in the very first year of Montgomery County's public election fund program, which means that she only accepts donations from real people - not corporations, organizations, or PACs - and the maximum donation per person is $150.
