The New York State Poor People's Campaign is organizing in communities across our state to build a multi-issue, multi-racial, multi-faith, intergenerational movement. We are committed to being politically and financially independent. Your donations make that organizing work possible.
In 2023 so far, we've done the following:
- Released a Poor People's State of the State Report and launched an organizing drive to demand the Governor tell the truth about poverty in New York.
- Held 3 Poor People's State of the State events on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, featuring song, testimonies, and analysis demonstrating the plight, fight, and insights of the poor and dispossessed.
- Joined with partners in healthcare and housing campaigns for days of action at the State Capitol.
- Held a Freedom School Van Tour, bringing together leaders from around our state to build relationships, learn from one another, and dive deep into the radical movement histories of our state.
- Organized a May Day delivery action to the Governor and legislative leaders.
- Sent dozens of leaders to the national Poor People's Campaign Moral Action Congress in D.C.
- Hosted two incredible Arts & Culture events in New York City and the Hudson Valley, bringing together our movement theomusicologists.
- Held dozens of regional meetings, 101s, media trainings, political education workshops, etc.
And there's more to come!
In the coming weeks and months we'll be holding two actions with the Nonviolent Medicaid Army in September, and our 5th annual People's Assembly in October at Stony Point. Learn more about these events and how to get involved in your region at nysppc.org
None of this would be possible without the generous support of our community. Thank you in advance for your financial contribution.
