The New York State Poor People's Campaign is organizing in communities across our state to build a multi-issue, multi-racial, multi-faith, intergenerational movement. We are committed to being politically and financially independent. Your donations make that organizing work possible.
In 2024 we did the following:
- Released a Poor People's State of the State Report and launched an organizing drive to demand the Governor tell the truth about poverty in New York.
- Joined with partners in healthcare and housing campaigns for days of action in Albany and NYC.
- Rallied and are petitioning the Governor to include funding in her budget to address child poverty. Held listening sessions around child poverty in Rochester, Schenectady and Massena, with more to come.
- Sent dozens of leaders to the national Poor People's Campaign “Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly & Moral March on Washington, D.C. & to the Polls”
- Hosted an incredible Arts & Culture event in the Hudson Valley, bringing together our movement theomusicologists for a 3-day retreat and a public concert
- Held dozens of regional meetings, 101s, media trainings, political education meetings, etc.
And there's more to come!
In the coming weeks and months we'll be releasing our 3rd Poor People’s State of the State report, holding our 6th 3-day People's Assembly, a van tour, a national convening in D.C., healthcare actions during the Non-Violent Medicaid Army’s Week of Action in September, and so much more. Learn more about these events and how to get involved in your region at nysppc.org
There is much more that needs to be done, but none of it will be possible without the generous support of our community. Thank you in advance for your financial contribution.
