Help Raise $25,000 by December 31st!
We're building a new organization committed to creating sustainable, thriving small towns across Alabama and taking on the corporate interests that are exploiting our communities. In order to be on-the-ground organizing by January 1st, 2018 we must raise at least $25,000 by the end of this year.
Why is this needed?
Nearly three quarters of Alabama residents live in small towns of less than 30,000 residents and 62% live in communities of fewer than 15,000 people.
These communities hold the social and political power in our state, yet our institutions do not reflect this. That's because most small town residents are too busy trying to make ends meet to fully engage in their own governance.
As a result, a majority of state legislators--backed by corporate interests--win without ever seeing a primary or general election challenger. This means the needs of our communities--and the state at-large--are ignored.
How do we change this?
We will do this by building deep relationships with the folks in our communities to understand their struggles and values and organizing them to fight corporate power and exploitation, build small town and rural leaders, and develop a new kind of politics reflective of our movement.
Together we can build a multiracial working class movement for change in Alabama.
